Project Overview
The Rijnlands Tunnel Lighting Project in the Netherlands has been successfully completed, with a total investment exceeding €1.69 million. A total of 80 sets of SP4-40.2 Parans natural sunlight systems were installed. The project was implemented smoothly and successfully passed the final acceptance, marking a significant milestone for large-scale natural daylighting applications in infrastructure projects.
Natural Sunlight Enhances Tunnel Safety
Both entrances of the Rijnlands Tunnel are illuminated by Parans natural sunlight systems. In an unprecedented large-scale application, nearly one hundred systems introduce natural sunlight deep into the tunnel, effectively reducing the “black hole” effect and enhancing road traffic safety. Notably, the project received the Innovative Design Challenge Award in a nationwide competition in the Netherlands, largely due to the Parans system’s ability to efficiently deliver natural sunlight into deep tunnel areas in a carbon-neutral manner.
